Default My G8 results

Here we go! We got it on the dyno the very first day I got it with 30 miles on it. We dynoed it and where a little disappointent.. It really seemed like the dealership filled it up with regular fuel as it recorded a touch of knock even on the stock tune. Well, we ran 2 tanks of premium thru it and gave it another shot. The results with a tune and definately running premium are awesome!

The G8's are supposed to be tuned for 87 octane.. That is of some debate. I believe that they are really tuned for premium but with the low octane tables they are able to run regular.

We love it, If you got some tuning software you can go in and firm up the shifts and make it a lot of fun! on our first tank (and we aren't easy!) it got 17.5mpg. I really think driving it easy in city type of trafffic you should see 19mpg. I pretty much floor this thing whereever I go. Its extremely fast especially for the RWHP number.

This transmission is absolutely fantastic. The deep gear ratios really get this thing up an dgoing

hmm seems to be right on par with the flywheel HP numbers...they seem to have underrated the G8 by about 10 crank HP or the car only looses 13% Drivetrain loss...lol Either way id be pretty satisfied with that...i may have to go test drive one of these G8's i think they're awesome...hows the stereo? i hope its better than the GTO's is...

That sounds about right. The one I dynoed stock on 87 octane put down 299.97 RWHP and about 320 RWTQ.

Exclamation ?

Please clarify something for me.... so you tuned the car, and used premium to get these numbers correct?

And if this is the case, did you dyno the car with premium fuel and stock tune? If so, what were the numbers?

The numbers you posted are in line... although 13% driveline loss is impressive for an automatic car... But tuning a car can provide some very impressive results...

I just don't want anyone to be mislead by these numbers from a "stock" G8. Just so we all know though, what were the "disappointing" numbers on what seemed to be 87 octane?

Thanks

B your car is a featherweight and a 5.7, G8 is a fat pig and 6.0 with a converter. To apples to oranges to really compare your MPG to the G8's

+1

if we have 4200 lbs (real weight with drivers) and a big fat auto with converter - we wouldnt get that great fuel milage either.

nice powerband! What did you use to tune it and how much does it cost for the public?

These modern autos are getting much more efficient. Its most likely a little underrated and less drivetrain loss. Still a little heavy for my preference but it could be worse.

Also, how did your mpg change compared to pre-tune and premium gas?
