Default Rearmount ST80 is up and running

New changes to my setup.

Replaced the ITS dual ball bearing T76 R trim turbine .96 a/r turbo with a 1.00 a/r ST80. Had a 4x16" bullet muffler installed after the turbo which now exits the rear of the car vs the 8" long 4" dump pipe that was on the T76 setup.

T76 setup used a 3.5" v-band -> 3.5-4" transition -> 4" 90 degree dump
ST80 setup uses a 4" v-band -> straight section -> 90 -> 16" long muffler (all in 4")

I also had the last 5' of exhaust over the axle to the turbo flange wrapped with header wrap now and the last time it was just exposed.

Yup... it works, pretty good. Spoolup is just a tiny bit slower than the t76 was which works out well on the street since the initial hit of the turbo is softer. It runs and drives very nice. I've only had the boost up to 8.5 psi according to the log file, but it required me to add an additional 10% of fuel compared to the T76. Suprised me that I had to add that much. On the transbrake it takes about 2.5 seconds to get 8.5 psi vs about 2 seconds on the t76 with the .96 housing. Seems like it wants to spool faster than the t76 once it get's past a few psi, just takes a hair longer to get that initial 3-4 pounds. I'm using 50% of the 95lb/hr injectors at 8.5 psi at 6000 rpms as well.

On the ST80 this is how the converter works on the trans brake according to my data log. No burn out and just normal driving so the exhaust was not very hot.

90 Kpa 3000 rpms 0.0 sec
103 Kpa 3300 rpms 1.0 sec
113 Kpa 3500 rpms 1.5 sec
124 Kpa 3750 rpms 2.0 sec
139 Kpa 4050 rpms 2.5 sec (waste gate starts to open)
155 Kpa 4300 rpms 2.8 sec (waste gate open)

Please note this log was done just as a test. At the track I spool it much faster because I pre stage on the foot brake between 0 and 3 psi then grab the trans brake. The exhaust is also much hotter at the track due to the burnout.

Over all i'm very pleased with the setup so far. I will hopefully get the boost turned up some more later this week, but it was fighting for traction at 90mph on this boost level. I'd like to run 12-13psi on the street if I can get the car to hold traction.

I was over at Jon's yesterday when he was buttoning everything up, looks great! When do you think you'll be at LVMS next to get some new ETs?

Glad you like it, the ST80 will definitely make alot more power then the ITS76 you had. Let us know how it works out....many have asked us about using one of our ST80's for a rea mount, but your the only one to actually do it.....good luck.

Been wondering where you were!Sounds like you've been real busy.I know from your past setups that you'll get all there is out of that turbo.Should be killer when you get everything worked out.Anyone would be hard put to find better info on a rearmount setup than you've posted in the past.Keep up the good work.Make it fly!

What all did you change to get it to fit on the TTi Race kit?
