I have been doing Audio for about ten year and I would recommend JL, Kicker, Memphis things like that. I have had nothing but amazing experience with Kicker (CaliforniaBoy might disagree). Low prices and if you do your homework when it comes to box design, you can get some serious sound out of something simple. Bteduilt a 5+ cubic foot ported box for a single 8" Solo-Baric and one Small KX400.1 Class-d Kicker amp, That thing hit like 2 12's no problem, and just about no drain on the battery, no need for Cap.

My old system in my Civic I built completely out of 3/4"MDF. Single 10" Solo-Baric with a KX700.5 Kicker 5-channel amp. 1.25Cubic foot Ported box, WIth all All kicker speakers and Good Cables, OPtima Battery, Lets just say it hurt to turn it up all the way.

Free bump. Ill take them for $80
How big is the box? Is it Sealed, Ported or Band-pass?

getting a system together isn't complicated; any idiot can run wires and connect them.

Properly tuning a sound system when it runs active is much more difficult. I'd compare it to tuneing a car. You have to know what you are doing. Most people run passive which isn't hard but active is where to get optimal sound and things can break and get expensive very fast. Stick to mechanics my friend; leave the audio to the audiophiles.

You have one solid thing right, you can get great bang for you buck with a properly designed box. Kicker/Memphis is fine if you want it to be loud and have a product that will last but if you want something to sound good that isn't the route I would go. Memphis I would throw in a category higher than kicker but still SQ not being optimal.

Sadly most people don't understand that a proper system consists of much more than just a subwoofer :barf:

It is just sad most people don't know what sound quality is and what a real system should sound like.

You have that Right CaliforniaBoy5. WHen I built my system I had everything hooked up. I had components in the front to give me a really crisp sound. I was 18 and making little money so I didnt get something like the Comp series from Diamond Audio or I know Infinity for highs. So I went with all kicker speakers inside the cab. It was very very CLear and crisp. Not to much over kill with Bass, Just enough. Due to the ported box I was able to tune it with all the availible settings that my Pioneer HU offered. Took about 3-5 hours to get everything dialed in, and yet once in a while adjusted everything.

You said it, It takes someone with a damn good ear and years of skils to tune a great system. My stocker set-up i have in my Stock HU Trans Am Is the clearest stock system I ever hear. Did about 3 months of research and about $300 in speakers with experimenting and matching GMs 2-3 ohm woofer design. Now My Mids and highs are great, and well My lows running off the stock amp, with a 8" JBL Dual 4 ohm Speaker in a tube in the spare tire area works great.

PS. you would be amazed how crisp you can make a Solo-baric. The 10" I had in the civic , very crisp and deep deep bass are low volume. Every at Low freq. it didnt get out of control. Thats what I love about Pioneer HU's, the ability to change so much!

Thanks but I really can't go any lower than $100. The box is a dual 10” JL ProWedge enclosure with two 10W3v2-D4 subwoofers. The enclosure is a sealed enclosure/wedge shape, includes grilles, 4 ohm impedence, 600 watt power handling.

Sure, I can send them to Vegas but you pay shipping. I'm am selling this for a friend. He's selling it because he bought it for a Mustang but sold the car before he installed them. These don't fit in his new 350Z roadster.

As for the subs themselves. The are two 10W3V2-D4 rated @ 300w RMS each and 4ohms.
