Wink Broken 10-bolt

What actually breaks in the 10-bolt? Ring & Pinion? Axle? Because people say "my 10-bolt broke" but what parts break?

ring and pinion, posi, axles... etc. Hell basically everything can break I've had buddys or myself break all that stuff before.

since you have an A4 id go with a 12 bolt in the 6 speed cars most people prefer 9"

If you are still on stock gears I would have to go with the posi unit being the weak link. I blew my entire Zexel Torsen housing to pieces on a 2300rpm clutch slip launch on MT drag radials.

Broke my ring and pinion getting sideways out of Wal-Mart on Nitto's.

Broke the spider gears on my auburn posi at the track slipping the clutch from around 3,700rpm on Mickey Thompson e/t streets.

One way or the other something is gonna freaking break!

that is crazy and almost unbelievable. Did you ever have your rearend apart? If so someone might of set it up wrong. I just cant see a good set of stock 3.42s breaking on street tires with 300hp.

But I guess anything is possible with these rearends.

I broke every tooth off my pinion gear, my torsen posi was going bad already also... And when it broke it twisted my driveshaft These were stock 3.23's in a A4 and was merging into traffic at 3/4 throttle, broke @ 5000ish rpm's in 1st gear.
