Well i Finally changed my fuel filter. I bought the car from an older retired guy with absolutly nothing done to it aside from regular oil changes. Check out this fuel filter! Oh 100,000KMS by the way.

Looks terrible to me, worse than it should with quality gas.

That's about what mine looked like after about 80k. To me that just means it was doing it job and all that crap stayed where it was supposed to in the filter and out of my engine.

I hate when people dont maintain stuff, and they bitch and moan when something goes wrong. When I got my Z with 95k on it, I changed all of the fluids front to back, fuel filter, plugs, and wires. Piece of mind...

All the fibers are from the filter. Its so deteriorated that by just rubbing a screwdriver on it, it pretty much comes apart. And all the crap on the filter is 100,000kms worth of dirty fuel. Its kinda a pasty, greasey, dust.

Wow! I bet you noticed a difference in power and fuel economy from changing it. I know I did. Next thing you should do is motor vac your injectors. Motor vac is a machine that hooks on to your fuel rail and your car runs off a detergent instead of its own fuel source. Let it run like that for 20 minutes with an occasional rev to about 3k and hold it for like 20 seconds then let it idle again. It clears things up real good. Pretty much any local shop can do it if you dont no somone that has it.

I changed mine for the first time around 50K. I should do it again. Just put new injectors on the car, so I don't have to worry about them.

Change your fuel filter every 15,000 miles/once a year. Cheap insurance for your pump, injectors - not so much. Don't be surprised if you lose your pump in the near future.

Ever look inside a used fuel tank? I bet there is some weird stuff floating around in yours.
