Default Please help. HP tuners + LS1 + Turbo = 260 whp?

Thats right. I have a mazda rx-7 running a stock 01 ls1/t56. It has a custom turbo setup with a turbonetics t04-62-1 turbo. We have used these turbos on c5 vettes with 550 whp. Anyways. I had originally had synergy reflash the ecu about a year ago to get rid of the vats so I could start the car.

Car felt slow as hell, and just felt playing lazy. Drove it for about 1k miles.
Never overheated, no smoking, nothing... just felt sloooowww.

Now.

I pulled the engine, new clutch, gaskets, seals, etc.
Did the turbo setup. Put everything back in. Had another shop which i trust upload their tune to run the turbo and the 60# injectors.

Car runs. but has the same sluggish feeling. Same as before except when the boost kicks it feels a little better.

Also forgot to mention that there is constant smoking coming from my catch can setup (moroso aluminum, with 2 -12 lines from each valve cover)
Also a bit of oil smoke out the exhaust.

Now today threw it on the dyno. Ran a consistant 11.8 AFR under load. And a decent lean cruise 14-15.0 afr on idle and no load.

Made 260 whp at like 5500 rpm. at only 5psi. Keep in mind the wastegate has an 8 psi spring. WTF ???

Also it only smokes on idle and decel not on boost.

My question is WTF is going on? Im not seeing any detonation or anything, and the timing map looks ok.

Also for some reason I cant access the ecu to rewrite. When it goes to the license option screen it does not give me an option to buy a license. So basically I cant tune anything?

What the hell is going on?

Thank you guys in advance for any help.

Im going to do a compression test tomorrow. But if it was that a ring or something was blown that badly, then the engine wouldn't run smooth and would have a weird AFR. Any other ideas?

I'd start with the compression check, then verify with the shop that uploaded the tune whether or not they locked your PCM.

On the power side of things, are you sure all your parts are sealed up right - no leaks?

Might also want to verify all 8 plugs are firing.

If not for the compression factor i have another question. Has The timing chain been replaced at any point? Sounds to me like the cam timing might be retarded way to much.

are you sure on the boost numbers? Have you made sure none of the seals or piping for the turbo parts have no leaks?

When I had the engine out last week I checked the timing chain. Everything seemed fine. It had the normal amount of slack and nothing was worn.

The shop that did the tune actually is one of our sponsors, and they said the ecu was not locked. But it doesn't explain why it wont let me purchase a license.

I am also confident on the boost numbers. We used the boost gauge from the dyno, and from all my exp with turbo cars it feels like about 4-5 psi.

Thanks for the help guys.
Could it be the cam is a tooth off?

Feel free to contact me at support at hptuners.com with a vcm suite infolog & the file you are trying to license and I'll try and help you on that front, as for why you are making about 1/2 of what you should be making hp wise Im really not sure.

What is the exhaust setup? Completely clogged cats or mufflers could explain it.

Sounds like a few cylinders are not firing. We've had a car running on 6 cylinders before and it drove perfectly smooth, just down 100rwhp.
