Default Rear Main Seal

I noticed there was some grease on the inside of the rear seal after popping out the plastic retainer. Is there a problem installing it with the grease it came with? the notification sheet it came with did not mention having to do this. Anyone done this and had problems?

Anybody? I searched but I couldn't find out about the new seal design. I wouldn't think GM would ship the seal out with some grease if it was supposed to be avoided.

The greese wont hurt a thing.

on the older small block rear main seals they recomended installing greese it the engine was going to sit for an extended period of time.

mine didnt come with extra, it just had some a little on the inner lip. i was confused because the manual states to install the seal dry but that was before the redesign.

thanks, guys.
