almost all the speakers in my project corvette are shot and need some jams
so what is the best bang for the buck mids that can run without an extra amp?

What mounting depth do you have available and how much power on tap?
03-30-2008, 09:39 PM
rears i want 6x9 and i cant check depth til i get the others out
doors are pretty deep and take 5" i think
and dash i have no idea what the sizes til i take off the windsheil
as for power i have no idea
its the stock bose head unit system

dont worry about depth for the 6x9 in the rear its plenty deep. doors can fit a 6.5 if you want to but 5.25 goes in easier. IMO do some 5 1/4 components up front and put the tweets in the dash

panta do you have any brand recomindations that are bang for the buck?
i know i want 6x9 in back and 5.25 in the doors
and i think i have some 6.5 that can go in the dash

IMO u do not want a coaxial in the dash. only put a tweeter in the dash. for a budget brand check out polk. im sure ppl will jump in here saying you need like 500 dollar speakers and the what not but IMO the polk db 5.25 components would work great woofer in the door and tweeter in the dash

ok thanks will check them out

5.25" mids? Seas ER15. Though it's not going to be incredibly loud without an amp... Can't say whether it meets your reqs or not without knowing how loud you like it.
5.25" woofers tend to be pretty inefficient.

I dont want to have to run it to another amp
I want to use the stock BOSE amp in the dash and just change the speakers
I have 2 10's to drop in the back for my thump just need some treble
03-31-2008, 07:28 PM
im pretty sure most speakers arent compatiable with the bose amp
03-31-2008, 09:36 PM
guess a new headunit will be coming first then
any ideas on a good double DIN?
exhaust will be nice too for a while
04-01-2008, 08:54 AM
1985 'Vettes didn't have double DIN - they had 1.5 DIN like the f-bodies.

ehhh that means im gonna have all that damn plastic adapter showing then
what a bummer
well any mid priced good HU out there?
04-01-2008, 07:33 PM

04-01-2008, 09:52 PM
Its nice but i really want an AUX input for my ipod
04-02-2008, 08:22 AM
cd4000 has aux input built in on the back, just run a cable to the center consle
