shorties will give better low-mid range over manifolds any day.

Eh...depends on what you are doing with the motor... If you are staying stock with it all, Ide say just keep the manifolds. They flow pretty decent. If you want headers get em. If you are doing a cam or some other upgrades, I guess you can go with headers.

I think there are certain years that flow better too. like the 01-02 manifolds flow better than earlier... Could probably get a set of those cheap or something.

yea, but the 98-99 is the only ones that fot the s10 frame.I at least am going to put a"cam" in it.I was going withe GM ls6 ported heads, but think it might be to much as fas as my exaust and I'm not paying 1000 bucks(give or take) for a set of freakin headers!

Several of the s10 guys have gone from manifolds to shorty swap headers and seen no gains what so ever. Its one reason i didn't spend the extra money on headers after i saw several people report back. The swap headers only have 1.5" primaries anyway.

very true though,I ported my manifolds and welded 2.5inch pipes to them instead of the factory2.25 outlet diamater.

no track time gains here going from 98 fbody manifolds to sanderson shorty headers last summer, 2 1/2" y pipe to a 3" single exhaust all with mandrel bends , both run with the cut out open at the track

new heads/cam now so im sure the headers will help, but with a mild engine i would say the manifolds work just as good as the 98 f-body manifolds
