I helped a friend drop a used ls2 (about 30K on moter) in nissan 240 . Im guessing its has a cracked piston in 3 cylinder. Can we just hone it out and put a new piston in.

If the cylinder isn't messed up too bad, I've heard of people using another piston with the same rings. Apparently that way you don't have to hone the cylinder.

He might as well spend the coin and find a forged piston for the .944" pin and replace them. If the piston cracked, and spread metal through out the engine, he is gonna wanna tear down the engine anyways.

GM used to replace the #7 piston in cars that had heavy piston slap. They would replace just that single piston and reuse the rings without a hone.

Personally, Id consider a quick hone, and replace with forged, stock sized slugs.

Like the others said, all bets are off if the cylinder is scratched.
