a body front suspension
I have a 1970 442 with an ls6 and a t56. my problem now is the nose is way too high. i had big block springs when the swap was done but that was way to high, the guys at a few speed shops told me to put small block spring in it, so i did. It is still about 3 inches to tall and the tires toe out too. i suggested 6 cylinder spring but some shops told me then the nose will be way to low. I dont want to go coilovers because i want as much originality in the suspension as possible.
I am sure some one here has had this issue, and i just want to know what works becuase all these parts im buying are not returnable once installed, and i would hate to waste money on a coilover system that did not work.
Thanks in advance.

I am using Hotchkis Sport Spring set #1901 for a 1-2" drop.. they are for a SBC setup.. the rear sits at a good height. but the front with a ligher LS1 still sat about stock height when all was done. I was told to cut it 1/2 coil but Hotchkis Phone Tech. Follow my sig link to see pictures..

the rear sits perfect on mine, i just need to get that front down. so you did cut the springs 1/2 coil? i was also told on another site to go with the straight 6 coils, but im afraid the car will bounce to much, my other options would be lowering sprindles but i dont think that will help the toe out.

Slygy0 - I also had to rebuild the top of the trans tunnel as I had to cut it to fit the T56 in.
I have not cut the coil yet.. waiting for my buddy to lend me the compressor. but it will be soon.
Yeah.. I would not think that the 6 cylinder coils would be good for handling. for the drags... it might be ok..

i used 1" s/b lowering springs, it still is higher than i want, but once it settles down, i will make a cut of the springs if i have to-with weight on the front end, i didnt need my coil spring comp., i was able to stick the spring in there, and jack up the lower control arm and get the top control arm into the spindle
(i hate using the dam comp. anyway)

I'm partial to higher spring rates (handling). If you have big block springs, cut off a coil (or 2). Going to 6 cylinder springs will handle like crap and probly still sit high.
Or go aftermarket like posted earlier (and cut as needed).

I bet you will probally fiind the 6cylinder springs may be more in line, going from a big blocl to a small block is about 150lbs, dropping fro a sbc to a ls6 is another 100 lbs drop which is probally more in line with the straight 6. I am running into about the same situation with my coupe but untill I have all the weight on the vehicle it is hard to tell. My setup with a small block and the mustang 2 setup calls for me to have Mustang V6 springs, I have already cut 1.1 off of the coil and the front lower control arms still doesnt sit level even with me standing on the front frame horns, my next step is 4cylinder springs, but I am also waiting to get everything mounted up & see what happens then.
