Default Point where diameter throws ABS?

I know when switching wheels/tires your overall diameter cant be too different than stock or it will throw the ABS. I also know the difference in diameter between front and rears must be small for the same reason. I use the tire caculator to find my exact differences, and my question is, at what point would I have a problem on my 98z?

Anytime you use a staggered overall diameter wheel/tire combos, your ABS will not function to its full capabilities. It only reacts to the stimuli it receives. This means ABS may trigger at times where you DONT want it to hampering your braking abilities. This means, even though a tire may be within .5"...and ABS does not trigger...it will not operate correctly lowering braking performance at times.

There is a threshold whereas it is essentially worthless...this would be typically anything over 1" in diameter. If you're worried about ABS functioning correctly, use similar tires with similar overall diameters...anything else and it will not operate 100% as it was intended.

Your other option is to delete ABS and forget about it...then you can use what you want when you want without issue. Your braking will operate as it normaly did no matter what size wheels/tires you use. Actually, you would have the abillity to bias your brakes with our kits since we include adjustable proportioning valves with every kit. We have delete kits specifically for your car.

Good luck.

You're welcome. 724 478 5580 is the number you'd want to call. You can also order kits online 24 hours a day. Kits are always in stock typically shipping either same day (up till approx. 12pm EST) or within 24 business hours of ordering.

If I use 25" or 26" on the front and 28" on the rear, will ABS just become inop, or will it also affect my braking on the strip? It would be no problem to not have ABS at the track, but if it would interfere my braking (and prevent from braking hard), it would be really bad

i think 28" rear makes ABS pretty much useless.

Yup.. I also hear that the proportioning of the brake is handled by the ABS so it you simply pull the ABS fuse you will not have proper proportioning front to rear so in the panic stop the rear may lock or the fronts lock..

Most important is that it wouldn't try to lessen brake pressure on front when I'm trying to stop as fast as I can...

From what I've seen the ABS will fault about at about 10%
difference on the F-bodies.
