LSx engine swap in 1999 Sonoma Tach ?
About to start up a 2001 5.3l 4L60E swap into my 99' Sonoma that came with a 4.3l and 4L60E. I can take care of all the mechanical parts. And the wiring to get the engine running. But I want to keep the stock cluster with tach.
Is there a way to calibrate the stoc factory 4.3 v-6 tach to work with the LS engine electronics? I know the older s-10's wan't hard. Just a diode swapout.
I figured at 200k miles, the stock 4.3 needs to find a new home.
I am sure I will have more ?'s. But I'll continue the search first.

yep. you might consider buying a 2.2 cluster so you can have the 7k rpm tach. the 4.3 was only 6k. both tachs work great with the ls platform. im running the 2.2 with my setup.

Thakns for the info fellas. I do plan on adding a small cam and custom LT's. So a tune is going to be needed. As well as for the differance in tire sizes.
The cluster swap is also a good idea. As I will want the extra RPM's and an engine matched milage. Being that this truck has 198k on it. A bit worn. LOL
