Installing ss3600 saturday..any advice
I'm going to be installing the ss3600 stall converter on my car and was wondering if you guys got any advice for me. This will probably be the first major thing i've done to my car. I'm not doing the tranny cooler right away, i have to drive to my friends house afterwards to do that. I hope thats not a big deal cuz i can't monitor trans. temperatures either. This a bad idea? Gonna throw the sfc's on too if the stall doesn't take too long. I printed off a how to that vince @ flt wrote up....i hope everything is there that i should need to know...

follow the modernmusclecars review. get some long socket extensions. dont round out the converter bolts. take your time. fill the converter with 1qt fluid and make sure it's fully seated onto the pump. the car will need to be high if working on the ground to slide the trans out.

yea i got the modernmusclecars.net install book marked...doing it the hobby shop on the base so getting it high in the air shouldn't be a problem...my buddy tells me i'll need a pump to put the fluid back in, so i hope they got that and everything else i may need.

The job is impossible without super-long extensions - about 30" IIRC. Be careful on those bolts as you may not be able to get the socket to fully seat on them. Air is really helpful with that. Don't forget the dipstick bolt on the back of the head. The bellhousing may be really wedded to the dowel pins. You may have to spend some time gradually working it to get it off them.

if possible, i highly recommend getting some hex head converter bolts to replace the factory crappy allen head bolts. i picked mine up at the local Ace Hardware for $1 each. the size is 12mm x 1.5 and the length is right around 20mm. oh, and they are grade 8

i just installed my 3600ss on monday its a hole different car, besure to brake it in first for about 150 miles(no wot pulls, no brake stalling) its a nasty *** stall.
