Re: BEST oil pump!
I ordered a ported/modified LS6 pump from A.R.E for $139 plus shipping. They are on special till the end of July. It holds 50+ psi at idle when its hot and pegged the needle when I was on the dyno. I didn't want to trust my stock pump with all of the $$ I was putting in my motor.

Re: BEST oil pump!
You need a TSP oil pump to match that camshaft! $129 every day. You shouldn't ask me about camshafts, I always recommend really big sticks!

I'm running the Thunder Racing ported LS6 oil pump. I see about 50+ psi at idle. I've noticed about 10-15 psi increase across the board over the stock pump. Its working great so far!

Katech here.
Talked with Katech and they explained there isn't a need to increase oil pressure over stock for our rpm range, it just wastes power and increases the chance of pumping the pan dry with extended high rpm on a stock engine. My oil pressure with the Katech pump is dead on for stock, which is what I wanted.

Re: BEST oil pump!
My stock one runs 40+ psi hot at idle...and 70+ at wot hot. Thats with 10w40 royal purple in the pan. The pump has 102,000 miles on it. You don't HAVE to have a new pump but if you have the time a new one won't hurt..IF YOU DON'T F*CK UP THE ORING.

Re: BEST oil pump!
just curious if its just like stock why not just stay with the stock one???
The Katech pump is cleaned up the casting flash in the stock pump housing is removed. The is some micro polishing done to keep the relief valve from stick etc. The stuck valve killed quiet few engines with stock pumps etc.
The pump was worth some piece of mind.

Re: BEST oil pump!
strife... that's a perdy studded block there. I want one!
How much of a PITA was that pump to install? Not only that, but how well does it fit in an f-bod with all the goodies (A/C, heat, PS etc etc)?
