Default Mega Deather Cam Or Ms4

I have heard alot about these cam shafts and need help desiding on which one to get. I have also heard that these are the biggest cams you can put in a ls1 based car without flycutting the pistons. So i need some help desiding on which one to get that will make the most power for my set up. I have heard the MS4 is a good range cam just doesnt pull hard at the top end, but then i have heard that the mega death cam is not that good on the bottom end but top end pulls hard just need some information form people that already have these cams. I have a LS1 with fast 90/90 slp under drive pulley, slp cold air, double roller timing chain, ls6 heads with patriot dual valve springs, and all the other bolt ons that a ls1 has. So any information would help alot. Thanks

How about a comp cams XFI286R113?

It's a 251/256 .660/.655 on a 113.

I would reccomend the MS4 because of the broad power range on it, but it still pulls very hard top end merely because of the size of the cam. I dont know much about the mega death cam but i have seen the MS4 cam make good power multiple times.

My mechanic just installed an MS4 into a GTO, stock heads.. it really pulled hard. It maxed his injectors out though so he's looking at new injectors and maybe even a fuel pump and wiring harness. It does make some good power. But you can call it any name you want, they are all very very similar. I'm going to release the Nuclear Bomb Camshaft of Total Destruction soon. Or better yet, spec one that has killer valve events for cam only cars, then paint it pink, and call it The Little Faerie Flower Wand.

Obviously you'd have to flycut for it, but why not? I bet it makes more power than an MS4 If you want to go big, then go BIG! Just prepare for 7500+ shift points

Hey smart guy, if your bitching about going past 6800 why the hell are you even looking at the 2 cams you asked about. Most low 230's cams will pull to 7k.

Just remember, bigger isnt always better, look for something a little smaller unless you like shifting at high RPM 6500+ Good Luck

True, on my dyno I only went to 6800 rpms.....but the power band was JUST starting to flatten out at about 6600 rpms and WAS NOT falling off (probably due to flow of ls6 intake and stock heads).

To the OP, M6 or Auto? What gears? And....how the hell do you have a Fast 90/90 setup but no internal mods yet?

What cam was in the 408? Might just use that one if it's not any bigger than say the MS4. I really like my MS4, but you're gonna needed bigger than 3.73 gears to get that cam in it's power band. Yes, it does have good lower end power compared to other big cams, but it's still a big cam and you'll need at least 4.10's to wake her up.

From what I understand. I have an Auto with 3.73's and 3400 stall and that still isn't enough in my opinion
