Removing engine from top... have problems

Removing engine from top... have problems Hey everyone. Well we started on pulling my old motor out and have broken a couple of parts. Here's some pictures as we progressed through today, about 4 hours of work...
and here is where I'm currently stuck at. what do we do with these? we wanted to pull the cover off so we could use the backholes for the cover to help lift the engine out with the chain & a couple of bolts in it. I accidently broke one of these...
also, we broke a plastic piece off between the throttle body & fuel line when we tried undoing the fuel line. I don't know what that "pack" is called?

going from the bottom is so much easier. thats the way gm installs the motors. the piece you broke in the intake valley is connected to your knock sensor. the other piece on the driver side is for the air or egr one of those systems. or evap. im in iraq havent seen my car for a long time

The part that you broke is part of the evap system. I broke the same piece when I was doing my head swap. I cant for the life of me remember what the parts counter lady at Performance Chevrolet called it, but she was able to pull it up on her computer. A new one cost me around $60.
If you take the broken one to the dealership, they can track it down for you. I was told it was a dealer only item....at least around here.

Was going to do it from the bottom until I decided I didn't have the proper specialty things to get the motor out from under the car, plus I'm keeping my A/C lines hooked up. And the ground is a little soft too.
Anyways, what do I do about those knock sensor plugs??? Do I leave them hooked in there or unplug them somehow? Guess the valley cover won't come off without the knock sensors in it?? We're planned on pulling the transmission out with the motor and trying to figure out where to hook the chains

1 . knock sensor , and 2 it looks like the evap thingy .if so i think i got one of those laying around if you can give me a close up so i can be sure of what you broke .
you can take it out the top though most without a lift take a cherry picker and raise the front up really high and drop the bottom .
of course once you take enough off the motor it is easier to remove . just be sure to keep an eye out for all the wires . sometimes it helps take some tape label 1 ,2 ,3 and so on on each side of what you take off .

Your gonna need to buy a new sensor. I would replace both. Unfortunately, I am not sure as to what size socket (or special tool) is necessary to remove them.
