Default Brand of 3.73's for 10 bolt?

About to buy a set of 3.73's and would like some input on the best brand to go with. I'm looking at Superior, Motive, SLP, Precision Gear, and Strange. What are the best, quieter, most dependable gear? I'll be installing a solid pinion spacer and already have a TA Girdle and stud kit to help the 10 survive. Thanks.

John

Superior would be my first choice. And I wouldn't install Motives if they were the only brand of gears left in creation. I have installed several different brands of gears and the Motives are the only brand that have given my trouble with noise.

I've heard very good things about the GM/Superoir gears.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about Superior. But you might have trouble finding a set. I don’t know why but many vendors have them backordered and are unable to forecast when they might ever get more. Reputable companies (like tbyrne) are not accepting orders. Disreputable vendors (like one particular unnamed sponsor) will substitute Motives even if you specifically order Superiors so make sure you read the fine print before you fork over your money.

How about Genuine GM gear? I'm leaning towards them, but seems people have different opinions on GM gears! lol I'm looking for GM performance parts Genuine GM gears. Anybody know where to get them for the best $$$$.

Mr Ed,
I noticed that everyone was out. That is the main reason I started looking into the pricey Genuine GM gears.

Richmonds....they make noise above 55MPH but the tight setup they call for makes them REALLY strong....even with my hp and over a years beating them with 295s and a spec stage 3 clutch, they are still in perfect condition (just installed a new posi last month..).

What do you think of Richmonds with an Auburn posi in my 10 bolt? This is the guy who is going to do recommends. He claims it is a great setup for our 7.5 rears...

Do you think a girdle is worth it?

Thanks.

I have motive 4.10 gears in stock 10 bolt. Perfectly quiet, the place I had them installed said that he won't install richmond gears because he can't get them as quiet as motive.

genuine GM gears are the best. I have a shop that specializes in rearends, and I use GM gears if they're available (they can be hard to get), 2nd choise is Motive, 3rd is Precison/US Gear. I'd never put Richmonds in.. I've seen more broken Richmond gears than any other brand
