Default HELP! Can't separate engine from transmission!

Ugh...so I am doing the top-out engine removal method, and the stupid thing wont separate. I can get the engine about 3/4 inch away from the transmission, and it will rotate (as much as the chains will let it), but the stupid thing won't come out. I have tried pry-bars (more than I would have liked), with no success. The car is an M6. I've tried having someone push the clutch, and various jacking of the engine and transmission. Help!!!

Not trying to be a smart ***, but did you dis-engage the fork from the throw out bearings? I'm not really following what you're saying, but r u in the process of taking the engine out of the car from the top and you simply can't seperate the transmission off of it? Don't use a pry bar man, if you take the tranny to bellhousing bolts off and push the fork down and off of the throw out bearings then NOTHING is going to stop an easy seperation.

Yep, , that's why I said "I don't mean to be a smart ***" , because if you didn't do that, then that's ur problem buddy, push the fork down and seperate it, no need for pry bars brother .

By the way, WHICH instructions r u following? whichever book that is, call the writers and tell them to "shove" their instructions up their *** if they didn't mention disconnecting the fork, then don't follow their instructions any further, I'm assuming it's ur first time seperating your T56 from ur LT1 (I wouldn't do it from the top to begin with, but I know that a lot of others did/would).

Yup, fork has got to be the issue. I had someone else remove my tranny when I got it rebuilt. It looks like that guy didn't know about the fork either cuz the throwout bearing was all f'd up. My clutch fork was also cracked and was hard to see, so you might want to inspect the fork when you get it off as well.

Hmmmm, cracked fork? Waw, that must have been some serious brand of clutch kit to crack that steel fork trying to pull the throw out bearings, waw.

Ya, well the tranny had to be rebuilt so it must have been caused by some serious gear slams...I mean, if it wasn't caused by the neghbor trying to pry the tranny off. Well, I didn't see them pry it but my dad said they were.

im changing the clutch out on my lt1 but when i went to remove the clutch fork to slide the trans off i cant get it out. from what i can tell it just slides on and off where the input shaft goes in, am i missing something? ive read write ups where it says yank down on the clutch fork to remove it. i yanked the hell out of that thing and its not comming, even pryed on it. anyone have suggestions?
