Default How many miles did you get out of your RAM clutches.

So my RAM level 3 power grip clutch started slipping real bad today after 19,000 miles. I didnt think it was alot of miles but everyone I talk to says its good milage out of one. I loved this clutch and want to either buy this one or upgrade to the next best RAM power grip HD. How many miles has everyone gottin out of these clutches? I drove in alot of traffic and have maybe a dozen track passes on Nittos. And it wasnt even in the car for a full year. Thanks in advance.

I've got a Powergrip HD and it's got maybe 10k miles on it and ZERO track passes and it's starting to slip. I don't know what the deal is. I've gone through 2 clutches in about 25k miles...

Clutch life is a hard thing to gauge.
It's like brakes so many factors are in play to the wear & longevity.
One person can get more miles than another, it all depends upon how you drive.

REALY! Oh man that is horrible. I hate this....... I cant make up my mind here on what to do. I was thinking of going with a different brand but I would like a clutch that will handle Hoosier DOT radials and hard launches and of course has to be streetable and have longevity of at least 30K miles.

I hope you do to as well for that kind of money. I called RAM yesterday and they told me that I could have gotten more miles out of it if I would have had a 4.10 gear. I wouldnt have to slip it as much to get going. Plus I did drive in ALOT of traffic. I just keep reading so many different things regarding miles. I read up on Mcleod and one guy has 40k on his single disk and another guy has 70k. Both launching on sticky tires. The RAM tech also told me I can get it rebuilt for about 200$ and if I want them to rebuild it as a level 4 it would cost me 225$ He also had a good point as well. He told me to buy a new one and latter get this one rebuilt and keep it as a spare. Witch I think is the route im gonna take. I still havent takin my clutch out to actually see the shape that its in and I dont think im gonna do so untill I buy a new one.

well drive style is everything including gearing. i have put my HD through hell with about 2000 track miles with 4.56 gears. i installed the HD in two other cars, one with 4.11 and other with 3.42 gears, with no problems and they are close to 10000 miles with track use. good luck finding a good grabbing clutch that will have long life and be street friendly.

I could care less about how much it chatters just as long as it lasts me and holds on to power and sticky tires. The more I read about that Mcleod the more I like it though. Like I said in my previous post people are getting outstanding results with it. I was qouted a price from Speed Inc. for one and once I buy it I'll do a right up on how it compares to the RAM after I break it in of course. Thanks for the help everybody!

Sounds like you're in the market for a Textralia OZ700 Z-grip. It will have all the holding power you need at the track for those hard launches and they seem to last pretty well.
