Default pinion angle

I done a seach and it seems like everyone has a diff way to set it and where to set it..............I just installed a torqe arm and need to set the pinion angle. Some people said to set it at -2 and some said +3. Here is some info on the car...It is an A4 that is not driven on the street very much mostly track car..........Also some examples would be good.......................................like pinion XXX and drive shaft XXX THANKS

shoot for "total angle" .. my drive shaft is @ 2.5 degrees and my pinion is @ 0 .. giving me -2.5 total angle. Since my pinion is lower (0), my angle is negative. Basically, you want the driveshaft angle to be > the pinion. drive shaft ->\ / <- pinion = neg.

I never liked BMR's instructional write-up "-6 + 4 = -2" (yeah, when dealing with $$ maybe) .. but I come up with 10 degrees total angle. I've tried their methodology and came out with an angle that resembled a wishbone .. vibrated like hell! A little misleading to me. Maybe I read it different than some. To clear my head (from the confusion), I set my angle to absolute 0 (straight line between the 2) and decreased my pinion (rolled the pinion down) until the difference was 2.5 degrees. No issues now

My extensive experience setting blade angles on variable pitch propellers, to the .01 of a degree, and setting drive angles on BIG 4x4's .. has me setting pinion angles based on "total angle" .. meaning adding both angles to attain total angle. So long as the pinion points lower (than the drive shaft), the angle is considered "negative".

General rule is ... A4 = -1 / -2 M6 = -2 / -3

Those #'s are street/strip settings .. good for all situations

Mine has healthy TQ and I get really good traction so, I'm more comfortable with a -2.5. I feel my car could use it.
