Default thermostat

I notice today that my 1997 v6 firebird does not have a thermostat is this safe i live in puerto rico.

Since you don't have winter to worry about, it's not a huge problem, but the car might not be going into closed loop (or is it open loop, I confuse the two), and then the car won't be reading the sensors and performing optimally. Eating more gas that way. I'd just put in a 180ºF one in there and call it good.

it's not a good idea. it will cause the engine to warm up slowly, and will cause the operating temp to be inconsistent. this will hurt efficiency
