Trick Flow "as cast" heads
Hello guys. It's time for my head swap and I'm contemplating going with the new Trick Flow "as cast" heads. I've heard from a couple sources that they flow almost as well as the highly regarded Trick Flow aftermarket castings and are a great "budget" head swap alternative to the more costly TF 215's or AFR 205's. Better yet, the "as cast" heads work well with the stock rockers. If anyone has these on your car, would you please post up your power numbers and your thoughts about the quality of the heads. I have a few power numbers from my friends at Vengeance, however would also like to hear some feedback from others about these relatively new heads.
I was dead set on the PRC Stage 2.5 5.3 heads, however these have thrown me for a bit of a twist. The Trick Flow heads are a bit more than I budgeted for the head swap, however I would consider ponying up the extra $800 if they are good for a bit more power over the PRCs.

We still recommend the after market roller rockers with the "as cast" head.

Can the as cast head also be worked over to the status of the cnc head for approximately the same price difference as the cnc head above the as cast head? Or would you be spending more money in the end to give the head the same treatment?

Guys the "as Cast" head is a great option for someone wanting to stay within a certain budget yet still have one of the most powerful cylinder heads on the market.
The "as cast" version is identical to the CNC version except for the intake/exhaust runners. TrickFlow Digitized the CNC head after porting and incorporated the CNC port work into the casting process. The same bowl work/valves/valve springs are all included. The head looks idenitcal to the CNC head. You still get the 13.5* valve angles/Thick deck surface/thick rocker bosses etc etc..
Power wise, except about a 3% difference from the As cast head.
Yes, someone could definately spend some "clean up" time on the intake/exhaust runners to get that 3% back if they truly want it.
We have plenty of As Cast combos on the street. Z06 last week made 486 with a Vindicator/FAST 92....
If we can help you out or answer any questions dont hesitate to call.

This is sorta off topic but I wanna throw it out there while the big dogs are in here:
If you bought a set of as-cast Trick Flows and sent them off to a reputable cnc and hand porter, saying they did a damn fine job working them over into a one of a kind head, how much money would one be looking at to get that type of treatment, and say there was a comparison done between the as cast head and the hand ported one of a kind head on the same exact setup, would you give a ballpark estimate on gains of 20%? 30%? 5%?
I know thats vague and there is alot, and I mean alot of variables in there too...
