Default question on installing my engine

im going to install my new 370 threw the top, is it possible to install the motor and the tranny at the same tim, will have to remove the hood, just wondering, thanks

On my LT1's I always did it seperate.

It can be done, but all of the accessories and anything that could help be removed 1st (Intake, Oil Pressure sendor, coils, valve cover, etc.. and then re-installed once the engine is in.

But it would be easier from the bottom do it all at once with everything on and ready to go. Do a search on this subject and you will get both side of the story.

But if you have the time..

If you dont have the neccessary equipment to raise the body enough to drop it through the bottom, then going through the top is possible - but it's a HUGE PITA!!!

Since the engine sits indented within the firewall, you're going to have to be very careful when installing it. As far as installing the engine + trans together through the top - I wouldn't even bother. Separate them and do it one at a time. It's more trouble than it's worth.
