Default Sbc ?

At what point would yall start to feel uncomfortable using an OEM 350 block? I'm shooting for 1000hp and 8500-9000 rpm shifts (don't have many choices on rear gears). I didn't think it would be too big of an issue since both of the big turbo small block guys I know are both making over 1200whp with stock 2 bolt main 350 blocks with stock 2 bolt main caps.

Way too much power & rpm for a stock block.

I'm not calling you a liar, but I have a REAL hard time believing that. And if they truly are doing so, they sure as hell aren't going to last very long. If you want any kind of reliability out of a sbc at that power level, you're using an aftermarket block with 4 bolt splayed caps, maybe even a partial fill.

I've seen the results of a crank blown out of the bottom of a sbc.
I was working at a house, just the wife was home so I don't know the story, but there was a sbc timing cover hanging on the wall with a rip the size of the crank on the bottom of it, and on a shelf was a th350 with no bottom on the front half of it.

If you build this you might get a few 1200hp runs out of it, but if it blows up you're going to want that power again and make another plan to build one up right. I would just build it up right with an aftermarket block and rotating assembly.

PS if you run it at 9000 rpm and 1000 hp watch your feet and get a good transmission blanket.

Well, a filled block, splayed from 2 to 4 bolt main and a velley gurdle will help a ton.
