Default Can a Stock Clutch Hold Nitrous From a Roll

Say you hit a 150hp shot at 4k rpms in 2nd gear, is there any chance the stock clutch will hold it? OR is it just gonna smoke the clutch. I realize this is kind of a stupid open ended question that depends on a lot of things, but in general does the stock clutch even have a chance?

I figure that engagin the nitrous at a higher rpms will lessen the torque spike from the initial hit.

I wouldn't go 150 shot. Depending on what kind of tires you're running it may hold 100 shot. I ran 100 shot on a bolt on car with nitto's and the clutch seemed to hold ok. On regular radials it was worthless until 3rd gear.

i ran a 100 nx shot on a stock clutch and stock rear, and from a roll it was NASTY.

with drag radials, i could hit it on the street at the top of 1st, but on gs-c's, only the top of 3rd without killing the tires.

the clutch cant be shifted too fast either, i pretty much had to granny shift it as not to overheat it.

2nd gear at 4k it should hold, dont bang 3rd too hard though, it may only last so long, also of corse previous wear could play a factor, like burnouts without a line lock

My stock clutch disc was ok, but the pressure plate and flywheel got glazed over so it didn't hold much longer. After each pass, the pedal was really soft. Even high RPM shifts on the street was no good. I ran a 100shot for a few months on street tires. Now the disc might have been ok, but the pp couldn't clamp hard enough. If you change the clutch setup, I recommend the Rev-Lok II or what I am running.

Also the more you slip the clutch, the more likely you will glaze them. So a 2nd gear lanuch at 4K will really smoke it.

no no no ... I mean from a roll at 4k in 2nd gear. Hell In water cant even do a burnout in 2nd from a stop. I tried this with nittos. That was ugly. Nothing like the taste of clutch dust.

thanks for info everyone. Looks like the answer is no since the clutch is already on the way out. Maybe with a new clutch it would hold.

Using street tires or DR betters your odds, but ET STreets or better = HELL NO.

Maybe an economical progressive nitrous controller will help you. Check out this link, there is a user manual with pics and instructions at the bottom of the page. http://secure.cartsvr.net/catalogs/c...showprevnext=1

Mine held for over a year (10,000 miles) using a 125 shot. But I was running Yokohama tires, and they would just roast themselves when the nitrous hit in either 1st of 2nd gear. With a real set of sticky tires, my money says my clutch would have bit the dust early.
