Lt1 and Ls1
I have a 95 Z28 Im really considering getting a Ls1 to put in it. I want to know the pros and cons of the Ls1 Im pretty educated on the Lt1 I know them well. Mod for mod what is the better motor. I know the ls1 has some more power stock for stock. In the end when you have them side by side what can take more abuse and or last longer.

That's a loaded question. Both engines are great, however the LS1 is superior to the Lt1. It has better heads, intake, ignition, etc. They both can take a good amount of abuse, and both can last a long time if taken care of properly. To swap a Ls1 into your LT1 car may be more of a pita than it's worth. I would just buy a LS1 car instead, it will be cheaper in the long run.

I see what your saying I put the Lt1 in this car so if I choose to put the Ls1 in Ill have it figured out so I can do it step by step.
I have a few people I know telling me the ls1 motor is alumn and it expands and contracts doesnt displace heat very well. The lt1 is iron and can handle more and also be bore alot more.

Any mods. Stock for stock the LS1 makes more power than the LT1, but once the modding begins that all goes out the window. You can make both motors equally fast with enough $$$$$$$$$.

You don't have a LS1, so you have to add in that cost too. and then also add in the mods to the LS1. Dollar for dollar it's going to be alot cheaper for you to build the LT1.

Just find an LS1 car. That way you can have the best of both worlds. The LT1 being the last of the true old school small blocks and the LS1 being the new generation of small blocks. Thats what I did.

coming form someone who recently went from lt1 to LS1 let me tell you what i have come across, first let me say that i was one of those diehard lt1 guys who would live in denial and say how much i like my lt1 better and how it have better low end grunt, well that was an excuse.........lol something i would say to make myself ok sleep at night.......my lt1 car was one of lke 500 LT1 WS.6 formulas with 4.10s and a borla, i sold it and found a 2000 pewter Z28 M6 and boy what a difference.....the Ls1 just has so much heart, if im rolling in 2nd gear at like 35mph at like 3 3500 rpm and i jsut hit it the car will uncontrollably spin out 2nd gear, lol most lt1s are hard pressed for a little chirp maybe a tire rotation into 2nd gear lol after banging the **** out of the 1-2 shift! the top end is unbelieveable! drop 4th at 80MPH and it just catapults foward!! see what most lt1 guys dont understand is that thhere might only be 30hp difference on paper between the 2 motors but the lt1 will never match the powerband curve of the LS1 lol not to mention how much less does an ls1 weigh compared to an iron lt? just some food for thought, i still have a special place in my heart fot my old lt1 that place just isnt in my garage.....
