Time to change valve springs?
Hi everybody!
It's been some time since I posted on this forum. Thought I would run this question past the experts.....
My cam specs are 214/220/118 .559 .564.
I have AFR heads with the AFR standard factory installed dual valve springs.
I've put 25000 miles on the car since I did the H/C upgrade. The car isn't tracked or raced. I never go above 2K until the engine oil temp reaches 120F. The engine rarely sees 6K. I don't want to go through the hassle of changing the valve springs but obviously the thought of a broken valve spring and the consequences of such are pretty scary.
Is it time to change the springs or am I OK to run?
Thoughts / opinions please.......

I would think they are ok for that small of cam and your driving style, but the right way to know for sure is to have the spring pressures tested to see if they are still in spec .

I'm pretty sure they have to remove them to be checked . If I remember correctly they are placed in a tool that compresses them to the correct installed hight and then it measures the spring pressure . If they are off a little bit in pressure , they shim them to bring them back into spec . If they are way out of spec I would just buy new ones .

Pull a couple off and check them, 1 intake and 1 exhaust spring. See if the pressures are still with in the tolerable range of where they need to be. Most local machine shops will do this FREE of charge for you. But by looking at your cam profile, I would say your springs should be just fine. good luck man.

Do you know if any of the "on engine" tools work with the LS1? This is the tool that rotates the rocker.

You should get them pressure tested
You should test all of them
Anybody telling you they are Ok must be a fortune teller. Ask them what the winning lotery numbers are for next week.
