Problem Solved! BROKEN REV...
A few days ago I posted that my #4 cyl. was missing really bad, and the car ewas running like ***. I checked everything I could think of to check. Well, today I did a comp test and came up with 180psi on the #4. Then I did a leakdown test, and heard no leak. Upon closer inspection of the spring, it was broken.
BROKEN REV DOUBLE SPRING! ...After 3000 miles????
I have not been to the track, street raced, and barely even got on it much. I baby that car. I have not banged the rev limiter or missed a shift either.
Luckily, the inner spring is intact and appears not to have trashed anything. I hope.
What to do now? What course of action should I take?

Hey man, glad to hear you found the prob! Hope your able to find some springs to support that bad-*** cam. I was talking to Nitro-Dave, after you mentioned getting that cam, and he said they installed that cam for someone, using the same springs, and had the same result you did. I'll have to ask him what they did, or if he has heard anything else on that yet

can you use the 918 springs, do you have stock heads or stg2. Im going to pat myself on the back for this one becuase I told you in your original post it sounded like an ex spring, but that just becuase it happend to me on my old car, glad you found your problem {pat,pat,pat}

Sorry to hear this. You are one very few who have had a problem
The rev springs like any spring will have a bad one or 2 out of a thousand. We have sold over 1300 rev springs, and there have only been 3 or 4 that have had trouble. That is 3/10 of one percent that we know of.
The whole reason for using the double springs was to have the inner spring there as a safety measure to keep the valve from dropping.
Remember back with the 918 problem. When one of those broke, the valve hit the piston, and sometimes more damage occured.
The rev springs are supposed to be good to .625 lift. I am sure that we can get you a new spring from rev. Give me a call tomorrow at LGM, and I will send you a new spring "red label", and I will get with REV to see what they have to say.
The key with any spring problem is to Stop and check it out before you go and hot rod it again. I had one customer with a 918 spring problem who was driving his car with a broken spring, and was revving it to see if he could make the misfire go away. You all know what happened to his engine right? Yes, he broke a valve, and dropped it into the cylinder.
Mobe did the right thing and checked out the problem fast, so he didn't damage anything else.
At least we know that the inner spring does it's job.

I'm glad you checked them over, I've heard alot of problems out of them, but I really figured you just had ignition issues by the way you described it. I guess we should have checked those even before moving coils around & messing with plugs. Are you going to leave the other REV's on or go to a complete new set? If you have time you might get a machine shop to check coil bind. Glad you'll be back on the road soon!

I actually checked the springs before I had even talked to you and Joseph. I obviously over looked it thoguh. But, from what it seemed like, the ignition didn't seem like a bad place to look. Diagnosing an issue is always the hardest part.

I think there is a good reason Comp 918 single springs cost more than REV doubles . . .

Did you heat-cycle the springs after you first installed them? I was told that this will greatly reduce the chance of breakage. I heat-cycled my REV 7716's about 5 times before putting any stress on them.
