Default What to do to make my car run better?

Hi guys, I plan on selling my 1990 300zx which is what I use to commuter to work. But now my job is only 2 miles away from me so there's no need to have a second car. I plan on putting about $1500 cash into the car to make it run better. It has about 87k miles on it, I Purchased it when it had 69k miles on it a few years ago.

I have longtubes and ory, basic tune, hotckss springs with bilsteins, SFC, hooker exhaust and 4.10 gears. I basically want to improve gas mileage as well and I get about 200mpg on a full tank and 250 freeway miles. I remember I use to get about 320 freeway miles but after the longtube's things just went down. Plugs were replaced with new ones as well.

I'm on the stock clutch and plan on getting a Ls7 clutch with Ls2 flywheel of course and new brakes. Anything else I should add to the car?

Good advice here, though wires should be LAST on the list. Round out your list with as many fluid changes as you can squeeze in - brake, PS, tranny, rear diff, coolant.

Since you mentioned it, your Bilsteins are not a good match for your springs, unless someone revalved them.

Take care of these cars and they take care of you!

Okay guys, I seafoamed my car and changed the oil at 150 miles. But still, I am getting the same mileage. I remember after my longtubes I have to change my o2 extensions and removed the o2's and it was very dirty (black color). I'm planning on getting the vette o2's next week. Do you think my current o2's on my car may be hurting gas mileage?

The only thing I didn't do from the seafoam sticky was spray my throttle with deep clean seafoam because my current autozone and kragen doesn't carry them.

I thought about going down to 3.90. But even when I had 3.42 I was getting the same mpg.

This spring/summer I have started a full tune up on my car....
1. Coolant Flush*
2. Differential Oil Change*
3. Power Steering Fluid Flush*
4. Oil/Filter Change*
5. PCV Valve (Truck version)*
6. Air Filter*
7. Fuel Filter*
8. Transmission Filter and/or Tranny Fluid*
9. Plugs and wires
10. Seafoam (fuel*, oil, combustion)
11. Tire rotation/pressure check
12. Brake Fluid Change (need to do new brakes pads/rotors)
13. Check/Lube suspension
14. Clean the exterior, interior, and engine bay (my car always seems to run so much better when it is clean )

I think that is a pretty good start.
I also got a good deal on a FTRA and need to install my tranny cooler dope style. Im averaging about 17mpg, mostly city driving, and I curious to see how much this all helps me. BTW I have 55K on my 02 Z28
