Great heads for that cam. I put down 398 rwhp and 379 rwtq through a locked A4 tranny. My best time so far with this combo is 11.79 at 113.5 mph.

I love my 5.3 heads. They are port/polished(by Bo White) & milled .018" w/car valves in them. They flow really well especially for the lift on this cam. And they will bump up your compression a little too.

Been looking at those 5.3's more and more. Although afr's look soo nice on the block i cant see spending over 1000 dollars more.

Any one else with input?

The PRC 5.3 is a good head and good deal, will go with that cam nicely. MTI just released new pricing on their ported heads and those would be another great option, TEA has 5.3's as well as ET.

If you wanted to spend more money and step into an after market head then you have AFR, ET, TFS, DART, Edelbrock.. all fine choices. With your cam no need to shave the heads, you should retain plenty of low end grunt with a 224 cam. LS6 intake is fine, or you can step up to a 90/90 or 92/92 as it is now.

I would go with the stqage 2.5 5.3s from TSP, they flow great and for about the money cant be beat. My cam is a 226/232 and I think I am going to try TSPs new 2.5R head which has a 2.055 intake valve for a little more flow. You wont find these on their site yet as Jason just finished them but you can contact him if you are interested.

I would go for the 5.3 heads. If your looking to stay N/A, they will love nitrous as well.

TSP = Texas Speed & Performance, the company that sells PRC brand heads. Same heads as in the other thread.

seems like the best results for the 224 cams are with some 5.3 heads. seen alot of guys make good numbers!! AFR's would be killer too!!

Yeah it seems 5.3's are the way to go.

Just wondering if the ls6's would be better for the street or the 5.3s

The shorter intake runner on the 5.3L, as well as the smaller combustion chamber make the 5.3L the more popular choice for street use!

AFR 205's mill .024 & use a cometic gasket, or Mill .030 and use a stock GM gasket. With that combo, I put down 430rwhp/403rwtq.

The 0.024 mill with the cometic will give better quench & produce a little more power. I did not want to deal with leaks, so I used a stock gasket & just milled them a little more. Runs fine on 93 octane.
