Best brands of gears
I'm going to be ordering some 4.10s soon, and hear good and bad on just about all the brands I know of. I thought Motive would be a good choice, but then I read a really negative thread recently about an abnormal amount of whine, course I that could be a bad install I realize.
Anybody got have any good suggestions?
btw, I've got the Torsen diff. Also, I see where SLP says the paddle kit is required, do all makes of 4.10 in my diff require the kit?
If so, do most of the gear manufactures sell them as well?
Thanks

Kit:
MOTIVE Gears, in your choice of ratio...3.42, 3.73 or 4.10
Or, STRANGE Gears (2 or 3 series carrier) for $25 additional
RATECH Complete Gear Installation Kit
2 Quarts RED LINE Synthetic Gear Oil
1 Bottle GM Limited Slip Differential Additive
TA Performance Rear End Cover Girdle
TA Performance Stud Kit
This is what I bought. This is what worked. Ask the sales/tech guys to provide you w/ the proper setup.
Good Luck!

Re: Best brands of gears
Dr.Evil go with GM gears trust me with this i build rears all the time and on my SS i put in genuine GM 4.10's no noise and no problems. Also when you first set up your rear DO NOT use synthetic gear oil until the gears are broken in then switch to synthetic. I also recomened ford posi additive it's the best but it smells like ****

Re: Best brands of gears
I, too, build rearends for a living. Depending on what is available, here is what I recommend. It's in order.
1. GM
2. Motive
3. Precision/US Gear (aka Strange)
