Default Wear on Cam after 6k miles?

I am looking into buying a 224/224 112lsa cam that is used and has about 6k miles on it. he wants 250 for it. is it worth it? what sort of wear and tear is expected after 6k if any?

Sounds like a good deal to me, I wish I could have gotten my TR224 that cheap. Roller cams don't suffer from wear hardly at all unless the cam was defective to start with. With 6k it should still be like new. If you wonder you can mike the lobes and inspect them for scuff marks.

Yeah it should be fine, I bought my cam used for 180 bucks and it has done really good for me.

I got my TR224 used and had no problems with it at all. It looked great and it came out of a car that was driven HARD. Roller cams tend to wear great. I say go for it.

I suggest putting the cam on a cam doctor so you can be sure you got what you think your getting.

The hydrolic roller cams should last well over 100K miles. The most probable problem would be from installing/removing the cam. You shouldn't be able to tell the difference between that cam and a new one.

Cam doctor is good but numbers on cam and a phone call should give you all the info you need to verify cam specs. I bought and use a "used" cam with no problems, biggest fear should be if cam is bent from mis-handling, inspect lobes for chatter marks or damage from lack of spring tension in use.
