I'm in some dire need of cash and in the back of my mind I'm considering selling my T/A. I'd like to get opinions from people as to what I can probably get for it, either on this board or on craigslist or wherever.
  • 2001 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible M6 triple black
  • 56K
  • 100% Stock except for an SLP Air Lid
  • Small tear on front passanger leather seat (barely noticable)
  • Recently washed, waxed, detailed, cleaned, and shined (even cleaned the engine bay). Just spend $1800 worth of work on the little things (belts, brakes, fluids, etc) Guy said I won't have to bring it back except for oil changes for a few years. Will probably need a tuneup at 60K
  • Top is in great shape, does not leak.

Just a few pics (none of the interior)

*the left exhaust pipe looks to be sagging in the picture but has since been fixed

So anyway, what do you think I could get for it?

Mileage is pretty low and it looks good. The convertible offsets it not being a WS6 car, adding value.

I'd say 14k-16k but ultimately drop if you have to, to what you're comfortable with.

Too bad you have to.

It seems like you just bought this car. That's a shame. What will you be driving once you sell this? Can you sell whatever it is and keep the T/A or is this not the car you really wanted? If you do have to sell, the timing is perfect for a convertible right before the summer season.

True, I've only had it for 6 months, but times are tough. Gotta have 3 jobs just to make ends meet and 93 gas is $3.83 here. It's not in immediate danger of being sold. Let's just say it more of a last resort. And as far as driving something else, it's NYC. Lots of buses and subways to get around. I just got paid $300 yesterday and I'm due some more money later this month. I'll have to see how it turns out. Just getting an idea of what its worth, to see if it's worth selling.

Well $1800 spent on it seems like QUITE a lot for just tune up stuff :\

They recommend 93, but you don't HAVE to run 93... I always run 87 heh I'm an LT1, but still mine says "premium gas" should be ran

That $1800 includes a premium wash, wax, detail, etc, a tuning after a Mustang Dyno run, and regular maintenance (and I bet 70% of that was labor).

And I tried using 87 when I first got it and it ran like ****. Once I put 93 in there I was destroying STi's on I-80 in NJ. Plus is ran a lot smoother at slower speeds so I just kept putting it in there.

Anyway, just got paid today, but bills are due in a week, so we'll see how everything turns out.

You should be able to get $17,000 for the upcoming spring and summer driving season. Your miles are about average and you have good receipts for recent work which are nice selling points. Definitely keep the high octane in the tank. These gas prices will be cheap compared to mid-summer.

Well that dyno tune probably ate up at LEAST $650 of that $1800, is not $800 of it. Labor was probably $200 min. Had I known you got it dyno tuned, I wouldn't have been so O_O about it heh

well i think the cars value depends on where your at.

here (southeast missouri) you would be lucky to get 14-15 grand for it.

Good news. I won't have to sell. Thank you all for your input and concern but I've worked out a plan that should actually save me some money without selling my car.

REQUEST: Can an admin please close, lock, or delete this thread, as I no longer have a use for it and will not be adding to it.
