Default Shitty Sounding Lsi

Man I got to do something about the sound of my Z . We pulled up at a restaurant the other day a this guy was staring / admiring my ride as I pulled up and when I got out he said " Man , that sure don't sound like no Z/28 " . He said it sounded more like a six cylinder with a flowmaster .It's an 02 pewter Vert with a black top & black leather , all stock except for a Magnaflow muffler . But he's right . My ole 94 Stang Vert with a 5.0 sure sounded better . But the thing is I've heard some true-duals that didn't sound that much better ,so why bother with the expense & loss of ground clearance ? Moral of the story - If you want a fast car that sounds like **** buy an LS1 , if you want a slow car that sounds killer buy a Ford .

i think you might want to listen to some more setups, there all kinds of sick sounding cars on this site and others. with longtubes and true duals, i have not heard a bad sounding car and most people get them to tuck up quite well. right now mine is stock and yes it does sound like crap but it wont be for long...

Ok . Which header system will retain cats & allow the MOST ground clearance ? Next , does Comp Cam make a small Thumper for the
LS1 that is made strickly for the street ?

Idiots say random ****. If you are really concerned put longtubes and a cutout. That should take care of that. If you aren't happy about that add a cam.

i've got long tubes and a catless h-pipe with flowmaster single chambers and it sounds pretty mean. cant wait to cam it though

and if you add the cost of a y-pipe + a cat-back, you can get true-duals run for about the same, if not less money. it just depends on what you want.

I get people all of the time telling me my car sounds great, it has a LM1 and SLPY with cats and shortie headers but I hate the way it sounds...oh well after the cam,ARH longtubes and true-duals are on maybe it will sound better...

Well , its definitely a convertible and it has this little black badge on both fenders that says Z/28 . The blue ZR1 on the pic. is my dream car . Sorry if I confused you . And it should have read LS1 . Ok ?
I've already spent over $700.00 on different muffler set-ups . Just bought a Hooker so I'll give that a try . Just don't understand why this fast but butt-ugly LS1 motor sounds soooo shitty .

You just have to accept the fact that your LS1 will never sound as good as a v8 stang, or even a LT1 for that matter. I think it has something to do with the firing order and aluminum block construction of the LS1. Don't worry you will have plenty of time to think about the sound of your LS1.....at the finish line!!

lol, of course the stock exhaust sounds like crap... It's made to make emissions and to be quiet so it'll appeal to a more diverse group of people, not so much for performance. I don't see how you can say the LS1 sounds like **** based on stock manifolds, stock cats, and stock y-pipe. I'm a little offended...

Get some td's, ORX or H, some good mufflers, and 2 cutouts, just in case. Then get a decently sized cam with a really low LSA and set the idle at 600 with a good tune. It'll sound mean as hell.

That $700 you've spent on catbacks alone is only $150 short of what I paid for my Lt's and TD's, and I have no plans on changing my setup. You could most likely get dumps custom made for a lot cheaper, too. Just shop around dude. www.ls1sounds.com

I don't think he want's to add cubes or a cam just to make it sound good. I think he means the sound of the motors stock for stock. Mustangs just sound better stock and with a good catback they sound awesome.

I had Stock exhaust except a weld in flowmaster with a 3" cutout and it had a very good tone. Even my friends with stangs liked my exhaust. Now i have LT's, catless x-pipe with dumped bullets and it sounds sick. Especially after i added a 230's size cam! Now my stang friends tell me my car sounds real mean and they wouldn't even think of racing me if they pulled up next to me at a light. LOL
