Stereo & Electronics - Alarm Problem

My car is a '96 TA.

Basically the remotes wont work even though I changed batteries, and when I open the doors with the key, I need to put the key to the "on" position within about 5 seconds or so, or the alarm goes off. The shock sensor has been taken out of the car.

I searched and didn't see anyone with a similar problem =/. Anyone have any ideas?

The alarm going off when opening the door with the key and key not inserted into the ignition quickly is normal if the alarm is armed. I'd try reprogramming the remotes. Something else to try is resynchronization - simultaneously hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the remote for a few seconds, should flash the parking lights twice and cycle the door locks. That's how mine works, assuming yours is the same.
