Racer's Lounge - just an observation

i see it alot that a mach 1 is equal to an ls1 mod for mod, but what i have seen and experienced, it's not really true, i'm not saying that goes for all situations but today for example, a very good friend of mine got his auto 03 mach 1 with kooks l/t's (which took us 2 days to install :( ), hi-flow cats and borla cat- back, dyno tuned today and he managed 311hp @ 327tq on a dynojet, before the mods he ran a 14.1 in 1/4, which reminded me of another friend with a manual mach 1, and with a cat-back exhaust and other mods running a 13.9 in the 1/4, now with a lid only 02 z28 auto my brother hit a 13.3 and our other friend with a lid m6 02 z28 hit a 12.9, i hope this doesn't stir up the fan boys on both sides of the fence but has anyone had a different experience?

I've run one with my Auto-Z when it was stock on DR's. The mach was full exhaust. We ran dead even.

I guess the DR's evened out with the Exhaust. He never pulled me, we launched together and stayed together. (I needed a stall bad :bang: )

Like I always say, I've never seen a stock Mach 1 at the track hit 13's. But people swear by it, so I guess it must be true.

machs are pretty slow in my opinion, they are really nothing more than a gt with some body mods and an older designed motor, kinda like the ws6 to the T/a, nothing much more than body mods and a raised air lid.

Older engine? Body mods only? The engine is a Higher compression DOHC 4.6 with a shaker hood. I don't think they're as fast as people make them out to be, but they are definately quicker than a GT. They run decent times if a manual and a good driver. I've seen a 400 hp Camaro run 13.5 before. They are close to LS1 but not quite there......to say it only offers body mods is a stretch though

My friends Mach with a few mods ran 12.8's and another friend of mine's ran 13.2's on the stock tires with some mufflers. Its a drivers race with the edge going to the LS1 up top..

My ex wifes never ran down the track, but was door to door with my buddys ws6 on the street..

thay are nowhere near a GT..

Atleast some one has seen a Mach 1 in action, they are no slouches. Must have raced some bad drivers

My wife had a 03 GT and It was slow as balls compared to the Mach 1

I would get another if I could afford it, the interior blows my T/A's away and it was fun as hell to drive..

They're on par with a strong stock/light bolton ls1 car.

Yeah they are still pulling good money for these cars. We bought the 03 in 2005 with 1200 miles on it for 22k, and it only has around 8k on it now including a drive to Cali from Florida. My Ex was offered 21k for it about 6 months ago. I guess the guy really wanted it. A friend of mine's is siting at a stealership and they want 18K for it..

I wish they would come down some too..

I raced a stock manual mach 1. I won by 2-3 cars one race..the other race he won...i had no traction, car shifted from 1 to 2nd cuz of no traction...then shifted back down to first when it gained traction at 35 mph....instant loss.

All I had was full exhaust, a4 2.73s and he was stock. I suppose that's about right...

I ran a Mach 1 in my m6 ss, what I had a catback and lid only. He had headers and exhausts, and it was dead ever... but everytime I let out he would keep going and throw his hazards on.... that kid is such a douche.

they are not slow by any means, but like i stated, so far they are not "equal" to any ls1's i've seen

Being that I am kind of a Ford guy, I would love to have a Mach. But the LS1 is such a bargain compared to the Mach 1. I feel wierd everytime I look at the chevy emblem on my car. Mach 1's are not slow by any means, but give a F body gears and drag radials and that would be a monster. You cant just say mod the Mach 1 and it will be faster. Well.. no shit.

This is why I bought an LS1 Camaro, the Mach 1s and Cobra were to much to justify spending right now. With full exhaust, a good shifter, 4.30s, DRs and other bolt on you could be in the 12s easily. They're fun cars but are limited compared to the LS1s which is why I chose to go the Ls1 route.
