Default Anyone have the blueprint or flowchart of a 60E?

just wondering if anyone has the blue prints or the flowchart of a 4l60e to see which valve does what.

Basically what im running into is my 2nd to 3rd shift takes for ever, i will bounce of the rev limiter 4-5times before it shifts, and if i let out of it for it to shift it takes a good 3-5 seconds for it to shift.

I built this transmission myself with a local transmission guy looking over me. Its slow in all my shifts, and i can figure out why, I cleaned my original valvebody spotless, i thought it was the problem so i took another one and put in it and had the same issue.

Heres what i have done to this transmission:

TCI pro race rebuild kit
Beast basket
dual caged HD sprags
B&M stall 2500

As much as ive struggled with this 60e im half tempted to just put my guts in a 700r4 and have it vacuum....

Thans in advance for the help

Austin

I would suspect that there is a fundamental flaw in the build itself. Hate to say it, but there is a reason 9 out of 10 high end builders use the Trans-Go HD-2 kit and then make several detailed mods to the hydraulic circuits.

We focus alot of attention to the 2-3 circuits. I personally tried using kits from many, many different mfgrs with little or no success in high h/p, high rpm apps.

With the 2/3 shift, as long as it is hitting the rev limiter you are damaging the clutches themselves. I suspect poor hydraulic application and excessive clutch pack clearance.

No doubt the local builder you worked with is a good builder, but these units are not for everyone. If he was well versed in these units you would nt be having these issues.

Sorry to see you go through this. Good Luck with it.

Did you do the line pressure boost valve modifications ? Sounds like the unit is low on line pressure. Most likely its torched by now. tear it down and work with the builders here. Very knowledgable group of 4l60 guys here.

Also, this may be important, Im using a B&M shift improver kit, and the computer is tuned for "firm shifts, and wot shifts"

I was going to go with the transgo shift kit, but have had the B&M laying around for ages.

Unplug the trans harness this will make max line , Ideally you want 200-230 psi

What is the fluid condition currently?

I am afraid damage has been done to the soft parts by soft application of the clutch packs at WOT. By bringing up the line pressure I believe you are only prolonging the inevitable. But, obviously I could be wrong.

How did this unit perform immediately after installation... did it seem to shift better then than it is now?

the fluids nice and clean, i had the pan off of it about 500 miles after it was installed just break in dust basically.

I dont know how long the transmissions been like this, its only seen WOT for the first time last sunday at the track, other wise it was slow cruising.

Well that might just work in your favor!

Have you done any other performance mods, the reason is you might be looking at a tune issue... if the shift points are not set properly it can and will hit the rev limiter at WOT.

Get those pressure readings and get back to us.
