I'm putting new rockers and springs in my LS1 Trans Am soon. I don't want to take the heads off, as it's unnecessary. I was going to use a Crane Cams Compression Tool (99472-1), which is specifically made for compressing valve springs with the heads on an LS1 block. However, I recently heard from a Crane Cams retailer that this tool has been stripping out a lot of heads and that they don't sell it anymore for that reason. I'm having trouble finding another alternative - short of removing the heads. If anyone has any experience with the Crane Cams tool or another similar tool, please let me know.
