engine assy
I have a balanced rotating assembly and a prepped block. I need to build this thing. Any suggestions as far as a book or something, service manual. I bought one of those cd's awhile back but I couldn't get anything to open on the disc. I just need torque specs and stupid stuff like the direction of the main caps! I took this thing apart along time ago and its time to put it back together. Thanks

Whoever machined your block shoud tell you the torque and sequence on the main caps. You want it too be exactly the same as when they machined the block to spec.
Will Handzel has a very comprhensive book with specs and tips on building an LS1. You should find it easily at a Borders or Barnes&Nobles bookstores.

your tangs (bearing locks) on the main caps should be opposite each other on ls1 style motors. Its different from a standard small block chevrolet. Torque specs are on ls1howto.com.
putting a ls1 style motor isnt as hard as people make it out to be. An engine is an engine, you just need to pay attention to your clearances, and torque specs.

As mentioned, it's not hard to build an LS1, you just need to pay attention just like with any other engine. GM High Tech did a nice build of a 383 stroker. The information would be helpful for you, even if you're not building a stroker. Have fun!
