Default Trickflow Heads w/Scorpion Rockers

Heads are on the bench. I removed 2 valve springs to install checker springs so I can set the proper swipe pattern. Bolted up the Scorpion Rockers with no shims. Rigged up the dial indicator. I used the Sharpe method and colored the top of the valve stem. Simulating the lift of the cam at .631 on the intake, I checked the pattern. The pattern was on the intake side of the stem. I then removed the rockers and added a .047 shim. Checked again and noticed I could only get .620 of range on the rocker before it would bind on the bolt. The pattern was closer to the center but not quite. I added another .047 shim and that limited the range to .427.

So, I assume the rockers will not work with the Trickflows f'ed up geometry. I cannot achieve the propper pattern without shims. With shims I cannot get the necessary lift before the rocker binds on the bolt.

Thoughts???

I think that you probably need the YT rockers

I'm thinking so too. Wonder who has the best deal. Time to research. Nate is interested in buying the Scorpions from me.

I agree. Has anyone gone through the correct setup with the YT's on the TFS heads? Most just slap them in.

Vengeance advertises them with the TFS heads in a package. I hope someone there has set them up correctly.

YT's work as do HS and I am sure others. Just seen those two run good with TFS heads so I know for sure. Both were 346's puttin down in excess of 450 so i would say they ran good

Kewl, just didn't want to see you order those and run into some other unforeseen issue.

I bought everything from Ed. He wasn't sure if the Scorpions would work on the TFS heads or not.

Do the YT's come with bolts or do you use the stock ones?

I had the HS. I'm not a fan. I had one break, and they are heavier over the nose than the Scorpion and YT's. I quess its time to break out the credit card again.

Re-use stock but I think they also now come with Allen head bolts. My AFR's required quite a bit of shim to get the correct wipe so I bough new/longer bolts to ensure full thread engagement.

I bought ARP bolts to go with the Scorpions. I didn't keep the stock bolts when I got the HS. The ARP's are shorter than stock. I hope I don't have another issue to deal with. I ordered YT's today, fingers crossed.
