Default oil pressure probem, need help

i have a motor that sat for like a year and i finally decided to build it and put it in my car,, i put heads and a cam in it and put it in the car.. first i put 10-40 oil in it and when the car was cold it will read 30-35 idle,, and about 45-50 under trottle, when it warms up it lowers to 20psi sometimes even to like 16-17 psi and 40 at about 5500 rps.. you can hear the lifters at idle... i used a fram filter and i thought that might be a problem, so i went and put a k&n one,, nothing changed,, then i changed the oil to 20-50 for higher mileage cars,, keep in mind this car only has 58k miles on it.. that didnt change anything.. when it warms up it goes 17-20psi even with 20-50.. do you guys think its the oil pump? it sat for over a year , do you guys think it got screwed up? i know i screwed up because i didnt change it when it was out..didnt think of it.. let me know what u guys think...

Sounds like maybe loose bearings What were your clearances when you put it back together? Did you check it with a plastiguage?

Shimming the spring is the same as running a stiffer spring. If all all was well you would have acceptable OP with your OEM stuff. Check sending unit, OP and then bearings.
