Default Who has a G5X2 with a A-4

I am looking at this cam. I have full boltons and a tr 224 cam with a 3600 vig. I got 364 rwhp an 380 rwtq without tuning.
I was wondering what kind of dyno numbers and 1/4 mile time with G5X2 cam with stock heads with an A-4.

I am in the middle of installing my mine right now with heads to. should be done tomarrow and i have a a4 with a vig 3600 it might be a little tight.hopeing for some nice track times

i think one guy put down 380 with that cam and a locked verter in his A4.... tunings gonna be a PITA no matter what anyone says in a A4.

Why will tuning be more of an issue with an A4?
It's tougher to get them to idle, and hit the shift points right. Deceleration / stopping is tougher, and turning on the A/C usually throws a kink in things as well. Since the engine is always loaded with the torque converter, this makes tuning 'interesting'. M6's are so much easier.

I'll be tuning on a G5X-2 A4 car today. It's not running well as-is. Lots of stumbling apparently.

just combine that cam with a stall and the car has a PITA time trying to find idle. My 224 cam was hard enough, but its finally perfect now. You can get the G5 to idle good, but its probably gonna take a few try's and still she may wanna stall at lights or warm starts. Some say its fine, while others had had issues with it.

Jayson from MTI hit the nail on the Head w/my X1 and A4 set up. AC on or off...doesn't stall...idles perfectly at 850. Try contacting them to see if they can give you any pointers on the GX cam.

The other tuning challenge is lock-up. You can set lock-up speed, but the computer doesn't use it as a bright line. It uses a fuzzy logic and will lock-up often at lower speeds under certain conditions and will not release until lower than set speeds under some circumstances.

In over to avoid cam surge down at very low rpms, you need higher lock-up points which can get tiresome if you have a very high stall.

I have the G5-X2 in a 2002 Camaro with an A4 tranny, TCS 4200 convertor, and 3:73 gears. It takes it a minute to find a steady idle when first started. It idles at 950. Turning on the air conditioner raises the idle to 1050. It never dies in traffic. Driveability is excellent at all rpms. MMT is still working on eliminating the 15 seconds or so I have to wait for it find a steady idle on startup. It made 435 rhp and 408 torque locked and 420 rhp and 457 torque unlocked on MMTs dyno.

by putting the 114 lsa on that cam will that help driveability and reliability?

Its still a monster of a cam, with close to .600 lift won't you need higher compression to make good power. ?

When it comes to adjusting idle on an A4, it's pretty simple. There's 4 parameters : In park and drive w/ AC off, and in park and drive w/ AC on. I don't think the idle would be the problem. Like stated above, I think the cam surge while the converter is locked would be more of a problem. Raising the lockup point usually solves that though.

I agree with this statement.

The guy above with the GSX2 in his a4 does not have 346 ci. With a big cam in an A4, tuning is not as simple as adjust the idle speed in park and in gear with the A/C on or off, IMO.
