Default H/C Headers done dyno #s

Finished product with before and after dyno numbers. 99 FRC Vette 6spd, (first dyno was with zero mods) I have to go back to the original dyno for a good comparison. Vid is the first startup leak check, eng now runs pretty quiet, still unsure of the pushrod length.
Blackwing, 85mm Maf with hiflow airbridge, LS6 intake, LS6 injectors, untouched Z06 243 heads, Cometic .040 gaskets, TSP228 114LSA cam, Comp 918 springs, LS7 lifters, 7.350 pushrods, LS2 timing chain, LS6 oil pump, LS2 pulley, LS3 water pump, KOOKS with hi-flow cats, flowmaster catback. Mike Norris came down for the dyno tune. Let me know your thoughts.

Looks pretty stout considering you didn't go to a big cam or anything wild. I bet she idles like stock and pulls like a train when you get on it. Looks good brother, good job.

The air / fuel ratio should be looked at. Kinda lean to start, and kinda rich towards the end. Should aim for 13 to 1 across the board.

Thanks, I'll have that looked at; I need to get the idle issues worked out also.

That cam should have virtually no idle issues. Should be very easy to tune.
Also interested in the SAE numbers.

Mike Norris said he would look at it again, great guy; the idle hangs at 1100 after a short 15min drive then drops to 650 and back up to 900 and fluctuates a little and then settles down. Weird thing is it is not consistent like this, most of the time it just fluctuates on start up; feels like there is an intermittent miss at idle also. Had to wait a week before I could get it dynoed so I had it tuned for idle issues and drove it for a week and it was great. After the dyno it was real bad, after the third start during the day it hung at 1500 then dropped to 500 and quit, did this like three times then I think the computer started to correct this, it did get better, but not were it was before the dyno. Maybe it developed a vacuum leak.

Hi coanan,

Good talking to you the other day for sure. Just let me know when you want to get together. I would really like to do a cold start scan and look at everything. Should be a simple fix, but I would be sure there are no vacuum leaks or misfires before we do anything.

On the lean Air/fuel look, the pump for the sensor is not working well at the shop I use and the sensor is about 6 feet from the end of the tailpipe the way it is set up. So there is quite a delay from when I hit the sample button to when the sensor reads the change from a cruise AF to the WOT AF. I do want to fatten her up a little at the midrange. But on the top end there was some KR and I personally see more power with a richer AF and more timing then I do with shooting for a perfect 13.0 and less timing. Not everyone agrees with this, but it works for me most of the time.

Also when traveling to tune it is quite different then coming to my shop in that is there is an issue I do not have the facilities nor the extra time to start checking things such as plugs, oxygen sensors and harnesses and so on that may have an issue with the install.

Best to all.

Mike Norris

Thanks Mike, I understand about using other shops, never as good as your own. I should have went to your shop the first time. I was thinking one day the first week of May at the earliest to come up there . PM me a good day for you. I'll check for vacuum leaks in the mean time; let me know if I should check anything else. Would 10% ethanol have any affect on the Dyno tune? Didn't think about it before, but I did fill up at a station that uses it by mistake (damn fine print). Steve

To the op. Who did you have install all of these items for your car? Not the tune. If it was a sponsor and you were not happy pm me or if it was a non-sponsor pm me. just a curious member in the area.

I did all the work myself in my garage. Car was down a week, I wasn't in a big hurry. Some things I should have done, mill the heads to 62cc and smoothed out the ports. My goal was 400rwhp, just wanted a little more kick for the street. Could have went gears for that I suppose, but then you don't have the tough sound and I still get 28-30mpg at 75mph.

between 6000 and 6400, that's on the street. Haven't been to the track yet, traction problems.
