Default 5.3L block=Ls1 heads?

I have a 5.3L block bored .030. I plan on putting a turbo on it with 8-9 pounds of boost. Would Aluminum LS1 heads be good for this? Someone is selling the heads and I was wondering if that combo would be decent. I do see a lot of you guys prefer 5.3L heads is there something wrong with the LS1 heads?

I'd get the heads with the largest CC combustion chambers so you have lower compression and can run more boost on pump gas.

So The LS1 heads would be good then? Because they are bigger than the 5.3L's...

Thanks RagenZ28 that is good info for me to remember.

The reason most go with the 5.3 heads is the boost in compression over a ls1 head. The runners are also a little smaller on the 5.3 heads.

I have seen them go for $50. My stock 803 castings (73K) are coming off in the next 2-3 weeks and I'll sell'em to you for $75 shipped. Perfect as far as I know.

You want to lower compression to decrease detonation so yes the bigger chamber LS1 head is a better choice.

Yea, i would use LS1 heads(241,803) if i was on a budget there about 67cc's If you want heads that will flow really good get some 6.0L heads(317) there 72cc, but flow like LS6 Heads(243). I dont know how much that will lower you compression... but just something to think about.

I have a pair of 6.0L heads for 200$ + shipping pm me if intrested...

Thanks Brandon

I sent a PM to Sombitch.

yes I am on a budget so getting stock parts is pretty much my only choice. I will probably run a Z06 cam also. The only thing I will get that is not stock is Pistons because of the bore.

This sounds crazy but I am hoping to score a free crank and rods because I know people that toss 5.3L parts like garbage. I dont mind using stock stuff, most of it is strong enough for serious power.
