Default tick tick tick

i think that the noiseis one of my lifters but you can really hear it under the car. you can really hear it when another car is next to me. i had a friend check and he said the noise was coming from the number 2 cyl. i just got the oil changed and i keep hearing people say put some lucas in it. well i dont want just a temporary fix i would rather know for sure what it is. i first noticed it a few months after i changed my headers and just assumed it was an exhaust leak so i put it in storage waiting for the winter to end. now i brought it out and the tick noise seems louder. the car has 72k miles on it. can anyone help me figure this out. i have read on other threads and get alot of different answers so i was hoping that my video would help me out.

I would check for exhaust leaks before going too far in depth. It could be a header leak right where they connect to the block.

i also read in another form that if it was a lifter the noise would go away after 2500 rpm but it just gets faster for me

Sounds just like my car, and I am almost positive its a header leak, as I cannot hear it from the front or the engine bay. At least I hope.

ive got the same damn noise after heads/cam. I put new ls7 lifters in, and new gm header gaskets on. I just got done taking the valve covers back off to check for a loose rocker, which it wasnt, also tried to push down each rocker on the pushrod side, and couldnt, which tells me that a lifter isnt collapsed. I also tightened down the header bolts more, and it seemed to go away a hair, but its still there. Doesnt sound as loud as yours, but you can def. notice it. Driving me nuts!

the sewing machine noise after a H/C swap is pretty normal. I don't know how extreme yours is but I wouldn't expect it to be as quiet as stock after the swap.

Did you try to retorque all the header bolts? You should do that before diving into the internals...

ID check the pushrods, make sure all the header bolts are tight, and if you happened to change your spark plugs during or after the header install re torque them down..My car had 2 tick bent pushrods and a loose sparkplug

my car did the same thing after changing heads and cam, had to put new lifters in. Noise went away, but then it came back just not as loud, went with a thicker oil and that has helped it!

Keep me posted on the Sea foam...thought about doing that also!

My car was ticking like crazy.....and it turned out to be a loose spark plug, just tightend it and the ticking was gone
