chosing a new converter...?
After my last time at the track i decided i need some more converter.
Right now I have a Vig 3000. Here are my 2 choices (time sensitive):
1. Yank SS4000 2.6 STR
2. Yank PT4000 2.2 STR
The PT is $120 more...but the lower STR is good right? Also on Yank's site it says for the PT:
"PRO THRUSTER 4000 4L60E/4L65E LS1
245mm, Stall speed 4000 and 4400, Posi Lock-Up Clutch w/Kevlar Linings, lightweight billet cover, 2.2 STR "
What exactly does that mean, it has two stall speeds? Is it also more beefed up than the SS4000?
I was told to get the converter built for my new motor....thoughts on that?
Ok, now here is the motor thats gonna be sitting in front of my new converter:
L92 block, 4.070 bore, fully machined out and blueprinted
L92 heads from TSP, fully ported and polished
L92 rockers
PRC dual .660 springs
L76 intake
NW 90mm TB
4.1" Compstar Forged Crank
6.125" Compstar Forged Rods
ARP studs
TSP 251/259 on 111 lsa with .661 lift
Custom 1-off Wiseco Forged Pistons.
Performabuilt Level III 4L65E
3.42 gears out back.

i definatly do not want a SS. i am not saying they are bad. but, from most of the dynos i have seen they will be down between 5 and 40 horse with these when compared to a stock stall. this is NOT what i want since i want more from a roll than off the line. but no one has proved to me the pt will be as fast from a roll as the stock converter. i know the shift extensions will be better but i hear so much stuff i don't even know what to believe.
