Default 2000 Z-28 Convert w/ 51k miles

Looking to possibly buy one of these.

Dark blue with tan leather interior in pretty good shape, couple minor scratches, 1 small ding.

6 spd w/ hurst shifter ( was this a factory option ) ?

stock with brand new tires as well.

It has traction control, power eveything, etc.

Could get it for roughly 11.7k is this a good deal?

Also, what would be the easiest way to get this car down in the low / mid 13's once I purchase it?

thanks as I am new to the ls1 cars, I currently own a 2006 mustang gt

I have the exact car you speak of and the color combo is actually pretty rare. There were only around 900 tan tops built in 00 (V6, Z28, SS, all colors) and around 125 of those were SS cars so if you start breaking it down by how many total cars were V6, Z28's, Manual (M6) and what precent were NBM that number gets to be pretty low. I think 11.7 is reasonable for it although I gave less than that for mine with 60k on it. If you drive it right it should run mid 13's stock no problem. Mine also has a hurst shifter and is "NBM" Navy Blue Metallic with tan leather and a tan top. I installed a UMI short stick on the factory hurst base and it feels real nice.

As for going faster just pick up a set of LT's, ORY, Catback, a lid, and get it tuned. Those parts will make a considerable difference and are first mods with LS1 cars. After that a cam and you'll be in the low 12's range if you can keep the 10-bolt together.

The only other advice I could give if you get it is to read the stickies, use the search button and enjoy your stay.

Thanks!

Hmm... thought 11.7 was a goooood deal, I guess I'm put more in perspective now.

How much did you pay for yours if you don't mind me asking?

Are there any issues I should worry about mechanically as well?

Thank you in advance for the help.

Make sure the rearend isn't noisy, shifts at high rpm (grinding, not going into gear especially the 2-3 shift) Other than that the top is pretty much maintenance free other than checking the fluid in the pump (driver rear compartment under the little door) Otherwise just inspect it like a normal car. If you cold start it you might here a knocking sound until it warms up. This is what we refer to as piston slap and is normal so to speak.

Ok, I guess I was wondering on things like belts, ac recharging, etc.... that I should expect around 51k miles. I am thinking not too much should be wearing yet.
