Pulling 6th?
A friend of mine has a 402 stroker SS with a TH400+9" with 4.11's. It is running mid 10's on slicks and would run high 10's on ET streets but runs out of mph. He is wanting to swap it to a 6 speed and make it more street friendly again. We were discussing it last night and with a 150 shot installed and an MN12 instead of a 6, he might be able to pull 6th on the highway. My best guess with a manual would be 530-575rwhp N/A. It dynoed in the upper 400's with the auto and a 3800 stall. So on the bottle that puts him in the 700rwhp range. With the limiter set at 7200 and shifting at 7k he would top out 5th at 169mph. After shifting to 6th it would drop to 4700RPM. There is no way it is going to top out 6th at 261. But do you think it would continue to pull? The motor could hold more than a 150 shot if needed. With 4.11's it would top out 5th in the low 190's on an MN6. If it isn't capable of pulling 6th with the MN12 we would have to settle for that. This is all just speculation right now. We would like to see the camaro rape some new vettes up top though.

5th and 6th gears are designed for economy not as a performance gear . I could definately see how you could strip the teeth off of either with a good amount of torque matched with a heavy vehicle .
