Default 4l80e

I have been getting prices together on rebuilding a stout 4l80e for a f-body drag car and got a couple parts recommended to me by a builder.

hardened input shaft 300.00
raybestos red o/h kit 200.00
hd overdrive roller clutch 75.00
transbrake 450.00
and 300m main shaft 450.00

would the 300m main shaft really be necssary for a 500-550 hp build? I think the guy might just be trying to sell me parts.

Are you saying you're building it for 550 hp?

Stock hardparts should be fine IMO.

You've got to realize the builder may be trying to over build it to prevent failure, a disappointed customer, etc.

a stocker should hold 550 no problem...rebuild would be good insurance...some good clutched and bands thing should be able to hold taht for a long time...
